BREAKING: Egypt reports death of second high-ranking Major General of coronavirus

Egyptian Major General Shafee Abdel Halim Dawoud died from the coronavirus, the country’s Armed Forces announced in a statement on Monday.

A day earlier, the Armed Forces announced Major General Khaled Shaltout, Chief of Staff of the Water Department of the Armed Forces’ Engineering Authority, died due to the coronavirus while participating in the military operations to sanitize major institutions across the country.

Major General Dawoud, director of the Major Projects Department at the Armed Forces Engineering Authority, also took part in the sanitization work to curb the spread of the disease, the statement added.

Egyptian Ministry of Health announced on Sunday evening 33 new cases of coronavirus and four deaths, bringing the total number to 327.
