Builders of Egypt Forum leads up to Egypt’s Economic Summit

H.E. Prime minister Ibrahim Mahlab affirms that Builders of Egypt Forum leads up to Egypt’s Economic Summit, which is scheduled to take place next March in Sharm Al Shiekh.

Mehlab added that the forum is recognized as a significant core in clarifying the vision of the building and construction sector in the upcoming phase and shedding light on available investment opportunities. The forum will tackle existing obstacles with the aim of attracting more Arab and foreign investments to revitalize the market, improve growth rates, and provide more job opportunities. Also the forum provides a mutual ground for beneficial cooperation between contractors, building companies, and construction companies.

The First Builders of Egypt forum 2014 to be held under the auspices of the Prime Minister, H.E. Ibrahim Mehlab on two consecutive days 25th and 26th of November 2014 in “Intercontinental Citystars”. The forum is organized by the Egyptian Federation for Construction & Building Contractors (EFCBC) and “Excellent Communications” a specialized Public Relations and events management agency.

“We welcome the participation of Egyptians and foreign investors in our national projects, and I would like to stress that everyone will take part in building the new Egypt, which we aim to be one of the best countries in the world” said Mahlab, Egypt’s prime minister.

Mahlab mentioned that Gulf countries had already participated in several major projects, including the participation of UAE in “Million Housing Unit Project”, “logistics center for grain”, the establishment of “wheat silos” and many other fundamental projects.

The Prime Minister stressed on the need to accelerate the process of resolving investors’ problems. He added that in order to improve the investment environment, it is a must to protect both the country’s and the investors’ rights, which will automatically lead to an increase in production capacities, employment rate and opportunities.

Mahlab added that the government is working around the clock to improve the investment environment.  He also pointed that serious reforming procedures are being carried which gives a positive message and signs that Egypt is moving towards the right path to stability and economic growth. These steps include the amending investment laws, as well as laws related to it and solving investors’ problems.

And from his side, Eng. Hassan Abdel Aziz, the chairman of the Egyptian Federation of construction and building contractors said that construction and building sector is considered the main growth aspect in the coming years, as it associated with more than 100 industries, besides the acquisition of more than 10% of the employment market. He also emphasized the importance of the forum as it will shed light on the country’s building and construction aspirations amid the historical transformation witnessed through the implementation of major projects such as New Suez Canal project and the One Million Units Project.

The chairman of the federation declared that the forum – which is the first of its kind in Egypt, will discuss and formulate a clear vision for the construction sector, and will determine the extent of the financial and technical ability to carry out the country’s plans for development, it will also highlight the role of the private companies participating in development plans, in addition to discussing the difficulties and challenges facing political administration and public opinion.

He also added that the continuation of the construction, development and reconstruction is the best way to achieve security and stability in the country, calling for the adoption of a new comprehensive plan for the establishment of new urban, tourism, and investment and industrial communities in Sinai.

The forum, which will witness large governmental presence, is going to announce the new investment opportunities available within the giant national projects (Suez Canal National Roads – North Coast – One Million Units projects).

The forum discusses the different scenarios proposed to contribute to solving the problems of facilities in addition to displaying the legislations and amendments required by the construction sector, aiming to develop the sector and protect it from harmful practices that might affect the quality of construction as well as the community’s confidence.

The forum also discusses the future plan of “New Roads” project and how it contributes in implementing development in many provinces. It sheds the lights on the challenges facing contractors and making the full use of a partnership system between private and public sectors.

Darwish Hassanein, CEO of Saudi Egyptian Construction Company (SECON) and member of the Egyptian federation for construction and building contractors’ board of directories, declared that contractors should be qualified for the huge governmental vital projects including The Suez Canal Axis, One Million Unit housing project, the new capital project, the project of developing the north coast and the national roads plan.

Hassanein said that launching “Builders of Egypt 2014” for the first time in Egypt will identify all the challenges facing contractors. It will also provide innovative solutions for eliminating such challenges through gathering governmental entities, building material companies, banks and contractors under one roof.

More than 1000 local and international delegates from large construction companies, financial institutions, banks, building materials companies, real estate developers, and project management companies will participate in the forum; this is in addition to a strong governmental presence.

The president of the Saudi Egyptian Construction Company further stated that the building and construction sector witness growth rates in the upcoming years under theme of “Reconstruction Revolution” adopted by current political leaders. He noted that the forum’s sessions will be held in preparation to Egypt’s Economic Summit, which is scheduled to take place in February, 2015.
