Cairo bourse ends week with $127.7mn gains, indices in red

Egypt’s bourse closed higher Thursday posting gains worth one billion Egyptian pounds (US$127.7 million); while indices were mostly in red, tracking regional and global equities.

The market capitalisation has recorded 441.057 billion pounds during the closing session of Thursday.

Indices

Egypt’s benchmark index, EGX30 fell 0.15 percent to 7039.3 points.

The newly-launched EGX50 EWI index dropped 0.39 percent to 1184.41 points.

EGX20 tumbled 0.46 percent to 6709.64 points.

In addition, the mid- and small-cap index EGX70 went up 0.09 percent to 382.11 points. The price index, EGX100 dipped 0.02 percent to 822.87 points.

Turnovers humble

On Thursday, the bourse’s trading volume has reached 144.909 million securities, with turnovers closed at 434.137 million, exchanged through 15,544 thousand transactions.

Also during the closing session, 171 listed securities have been traded in; 81 declined, 51 advanced; while 35 kept their previous levels.

Investors’ Activities

Arab and non-Arab investors were net buyers Thursday capturing 7.54 and 10.34 percent, respectively of the total markets, with a net equity of 434,118 pounds and 20.119 million pounds, respectively, excluding the deals.

On the contrary, Egyptian investors were net sellers seizing 82.12 percent of the total market, with a net equity of 20.554 million pounds, excluding the deals.
