Cairo’s bourse slightly gains $79m on Tuesday

Egypt’s stock market edged higher Tuesday with gains 623 million Egyptian pounds (US$79 million) on local and Arab investors’ buying appetite.

The market capitalisation has recorded 413.954 billion pounds during the closing session of Tuesday.

Indices

Egypt’s benchmark index, EGX30 rose 0.20 percent to 6421 points.

EGX50 EWI index increased 1 percent to 1105.91 point

EGX20 climbed 1.23 percent to 6366.11 points.

In addition, the mid- and small-cap index EGX70 surged 0.89 percent to 356.09 points. The price index, EGX100 edged up 0.21 percent to 746.63

Turnovers high

On Tuesday, the bourse’s trading volume hit 222.224 million securities, with turnovers closed at 459.486 million pounds, exchanged through 15,836 thousand transactions.

Also during the closing session,152 listed securities have been traded in; 28 declined, 84 advanced; while 39 kept their previous levels.

Investors’ Activities

Local and Arab investors were net buyers on Tuesday seizing 74.24 percent and 8.06 percent respectively of the total markets, with a net equity of 86.326 million pounds and 30.217 million pounds, respectively, excluding the deals.

On the contrary, foreign investors were net sellers getting 17.7 percent of the total market, with a net equity of 116.543 million pounds, excluding the deals.
