Cairo stock market starts week bullish, EGX30 up 2.06%

Egyptian stock market has started a new week with gains estimated at 3.992 billion Egyptian pounds (US$ 5.9 million) on local buying appetite.

The market capitalisation reached 396.750 pounds during the closing session of Sunday.

Indices

Egypt’s benchmark index, EGX30 grew 2.06 percent to 6214.94 points.

The EGX50 EWI index went up 2.35 percent to 1191.7 points.

EGX20 surged 1.89 percent to 6175 points.

In addition, the mid- and small-cap index EGX70 increased 0.43 percent to 353.73 points. The price index, EGX100 rose 0.69 percent to 729.13 points.

Turnovers low

On Sunday, the bourse’s trading volume has hit 211.312 million securities, with turnovers closed at 444.297 million pounds, exchanged through 19,628 thousand transactions.

Also during the closing session, 166 listed securities have been traded in; 25 declined, 104 advanced; while 37 kept their previous levels.

Investors’ Activities

Arab and foreign investors were net sellers Sunday getting 2.41 and 3.55 percent respectively of the total markets, with a net equity of 1.152 million pounds and 9.119 million pounds, respectively, excluding the deals.

On the contrary, local investors were net buyers seizing 94.055 percent of the total market, with a net equity of 10.272 million pounds, excluding the deals.
