France’s Carrefour targets 65 new branches in Egypt within 5 years

The French multinational retailer Carrefour is planning to open 65 new branches across Egypt in the coming five years, said the Executive Regional Director of Carrefour in Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Yemen and Libya, Herve Majidier.

During a press conference Monday held in the headquarters of the Egyptian Ministry of Supply, Majidier stated that Carrefour’s strategic scheme for Egypt includes launch of several logistics centres in the country for the storage of grain, vegetables, and fruits. Those centres will be a place to sell food commodities to the citizens at reasonable prices, alongside to provide multiple job opportunities.

Egyptians represent 99 percent of employees working in Carrefour chains across the country, Majidier added.

In 2015, there were around 116 million visits made by Egyptians to the Carrefour’s chains in the country, he stated.
