CBE: Credit Facilities Offered To Banks Registered EGP 499 Bln In April 2012

The Central Bank of Egypt said the value of credit facilities provided by the banks rose by EGP 3.085 billion, or 0.6%, registering EGP 498.9 billion at the end of last April, up from EGP 495.8 billion at the end of last March.

The private sector acquired EGP 465.2 billion of the total value of credit facilities provided by banks at the end of April, up from EGP 461.5 billion at the end of March; of which local-currency credit facilities accounted for EGP 341.5 billion and foreign-currency credit facilities accounted for EGP 123.6 billion, , according to CBE’s latest report.

The public sector acquired EGP 33.7 billion of the total value of credit facilities; of which local-currency credit facilities accounted for EGP 15.6 billion and foreign-currency credit facilities accounted for EGP 18 billion.
