CBE: Deposits Exceed EGP 1 Trillion by Q3

The volume of deposits at the Egyptian banking sector rose by 1.5%, EGP 15.5 billion, registering EGP 1.004 trillion by the end of March, up from EGP 989.4 billion at the end of December 2011.

Government deposits reached EGP 124.1 billion at the end of March, up from EGP 120.5 billion at the end of December. Government local currency deposits reached EGP 70.3 billion and the value of foreign currency deposits reached EGP 53.8 billion, according to Central Bank of Egypt’s latest monthly report.

Non-government deposits registered EGP 880.7 billion at the end of March, up from EGP 868.9 billion at the end of December, with an increase of EGP 11.8 billion. Non-government local currency deposits registered EGP 693.2 billion and the value of foreign currency deposits registered EGP 187.51 billion.
