CEMEX leads lower carbon cement, concrete industry in UAE

CEMEX is the first company to introduce lower carbon cement and concrete in UAE and in line with the company’s climate action strategy.
Over 50 percent of CEMEX UAE concrete mixes are sold as Vertua – Lower Carbon, the company said in a statement on Friday. This concrete is used in some of the most key projects in the country, saving approximately 55 million KG of CO2 so far.

“In 2021, we launched Vertua concrete in UAE as a rollout of the global launch of innovative products that positively contributes to our Climate Action Strategy,” said Rafael Vilallona, CEMEX UAE country director.

“Reaching more than 50 percent replacement of our concrete mixes to be Vertua speaks volume of UAE awareness and alignment of our strategy with the country’s vision. We aim to reach full adoption of our sustainable products and continue to avail cement and concrete that build a sustainable tomorrow.”Vilallona added.

Vertua is CEMEX’s portfolio of products and solutions that are more sustainable by design and contribute to decarbonising the built environment and building a better, more sustainable future for all.

Vertua represents one of the pillars of CEMEX climate action programme Future in Action. The programme aims to achieve sustainable excellence through climate action, circularity, and natural resource management with the primary objective of becoming a net-zero CO2 company.
Through Future in Action, CEMEX has achieved record-breaking progress in lowering its carbon footprint during recent years.
