The total volume of Egyptian exports of ceramic and sanitary ware reached around US$322 million during 2015, Head of Egyptian Construction Export Council, Medhat Askar stated Monday.
He clarified that Egypt’s ceramic exports to Africa recorded US$110 million, seizing 34 percent of the total volume.
The official made these remarks during the press conference held Monday about launching of the 8th round of the International Ceramic and Sanitary Ware Exhibition (ICS).
The 8th round is scheduled to take place from 9-12 November at Cairo International Conference Centre (CCIC).
The total volume of sanitary ware exported from Egypt to Africa registered US$3.5 million in 2015, getting 18 percent of the total volume of sanitary ware exports that recorded US$19 million.
The chairperson noted that Libya was the largest importer of Egyptian ceramic products in 2015 with imports worth US$60 million (54.5 percent of the total volume), followed by Sudan whose imports recorded US$22 million (20 percent of the total volume).
On other side, Kenya was the largest importer of Egyptian sanitary ware with imports estimated at US$1 million during 2015, capturing 29 percent of the total volume, followed by Libya whose imports hit US$868,000.
About Egypt’s exports of ceramic and sanitary ware to other states, Germany was the largest importer with imports worth around US$4 million during 2015, followed by Saudi Arabia whose imports reached US$2 million.
