ChatGPT’s traffic drops by 9.7% in June

OpenAI’s ChatGPT chatbot traffic has started to simmer down by 9.7 percent from May to June, according to SimilarWeb, which reported this week that the decline includes both desktop and mobile traffic.

The report highlighted that in the U.S. alone, the traffic drop is estimated to be 10.3 percent at the same time, worldwide unique visitors to the ChatGPT website fell 5.7 percent.

Similarweb’s Senior Insights Manager David Carr said that decreasing traffic is a sign of the chatbot’s novelty wearing off.

While RBC Capital Markets analyst Rishi Jaluria added that the data points to more demand for generative AI with real-time information.

It is worth mentioning that OpenAI also released the ChatGPT app on the iOS system in May, which could sap some traffic from its website as some tie the usage change to the summer break for schools.
