Chemical Council Implores Govt To Resolve Ain Sukhna port Crisis

The Chemical and Fertilizers Export Council has implored both of the prime minister and the ministers of industry and foreign trade, transportation, and investment to resolve the crisis of suspending Ain Sukhna port. The port was closed 6 times in a year, causing heavy losses in the Egyptian factories.

Waleed Helal, Chairman of the Chemical and Fertilizers Export Council, said the exporters and producers in Egypt lose millions of dollars every day because of closing the port. He has warned that many foreign shipping companies in Egypt may abandon the market; consequently it will have a negative message to the international business sector.

Regarding this matter, Sherif El Zayat, Board Member, at the Chemical and Fertilizers Export Council, has called for holding a meeting with DP World which is responsible for operating the port, in the presence of the official authorities and labor’s representatives; in order to discuss this issue and reaching real mechanisms to resume work in the port. He added that the official authorities have to impose sanctions on those who violate the agreement.
