China’s Chaoyang LongMarch breaks ground on $190 mln Egypt tyre plant – SCZONE

Chinese tire manufacturer Chaoyang LongMarch Tyre Co., Ltd. has broken ground on a $190 million factory in Egypt’s Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE), the zone authority said on Wednesday.

The project, being developed by Long March Tyre (Egypt) Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Chaoyang LongMarch Tyre Co., will be located in the TEDA Egypt Industrial Zone in Ain Sokhna and is expected to create around 1,500 jobs.

The factory will be built in two phases on a 200,000-square-metre site. Initial production capacity is planned at 600,000 truck/bus radial (TBR) tyres annually.

Following completion of the second phase, total capacity is expected to reach 1 million TBR tyres and 4.5 million passenger car radial (PCR) tyres per year, according to SCZONE.

SCZONE Chairman Waleid Gamal El-Dien said the project reflects rising interest from international manufacturers in Egypt’s industrial sector and supports efforts to expand local manufacturing.

The facility is expected to serve both domestic demand and export markets across the Middle East and Africa, Chaoyang LongMarch Tyre’s Chairman Jin Yongsheng said.

Egypt has been seeking to attract manufacturing investment into sectors including automotive production, components, and related industries as part of broader efforts to increase exports and expand industrial activity.
