China’s Inner Mongolia achieves new energy milestone

Inner Mongolia, an autonomous region in North China, set a record by becoming the first provincial-level region in the country to achieve a total installed capacity of over 100 million kilowatts of new energy, according to the regional energy bureau cited by Xinhua on Tuesday.

This significant achievement is projected to generate approximately 230 billion kWh of green electricity annually. This is equivalent to a saving of 70 million tonnes of standard coal and a reduction of over 190 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions.

Furthermore, the region has ambitious plans to increase its new energy installed capacity by an additional 40 million kilowatts within the current year. This will enable the region’s installed capacity of new energy to exceed that of thermal power, achieving this milestone a year ahead of schedule.
