Communications Minister: Egyptian Call Center Sector Employs 60.000 People

Eng. Hany Mahmoud, Minister of Communications and Information Technology affirmed that a number of employees at the call center sector and BPO industry has reached 60 thousands, according to the Ministry’s indicators, pointing out to the importance of further increasing their numbers.

On the sidelines of the “Egyptian Engineering Day,” the Minister added that Egypt attracts most of the foreign investments directed towards the BPO industry due to the infrastructure of its local markets.

He explained that the availability of qualified language speakers is considered one of the main factors that encourage foreign companies to invest in Egypt, emphasizing that he seeks to increase the number of employees at the BPO Industry up to 400 thousands, as in Philippine.

The Ministry of Communications has also launched EDU Egypt program to qualify university students to meet the needs of the job market by providing them with a training on language and soft skills, he said.  He added that this program allows students to work in the BPO industry and that 28 thousands students have graduated from this projects up till now
