Competition Authority, AmCham Hold Workshop Over New Law

Egyptian Competition Authority (ECA) jointly with American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt held today a workshop about Egyptian Competition Law and the expected amendments in the coming period.

A team work headed by Dr Mona El-Garf attended the workshop. The team has explained the law and its irregularities, in addition to the general features of the expected amendments on the Competition Law.

Dr Mona El-Garf, Chairman of ECA, the authority’s proposed amendments include the authority’s independence through giving the board the right to directly refer any violation case to the general prosecution or reconciliation.

She mentioned that the law one of the tools that protects the competition in the market, so it is necessary to have general policy for competition adopted by the state. This represents one of the main factors the authority works on with all the governmental bodies in the coming period to achieve real system for competition in Egypt.
