The Egyptian Ministry of Electricity and Energy signed today cooperation protocol with the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation in order to conduct power to the developed irrigation channels, which serve 12 million farmers in the agricultural association.
Engineer Mahmoud Balbaa, Minister of Electricity, said the agreement protects the farmers from the crises of the conventional fuels and their high prices, in addition to decreasing the demand on the conventional fuels and protecting the environment in the new cities plus the countryside.
He has elaborated that the ministry keens on providing all subsidy to the agriculture sector, as the kilowatt of electricity is being sold 10 piasters, while its production cost exceeds 38 piasters.
