CPA Seeks Articles in New Constitution Bill

Consumer Protection Agency (CPA) sent a message to Judge Hossam El Ghariany, the chairman of the constituent assembly to draft constitution, calling for a particular Article in the new constitution for securing the consumers’ rights.

Atef Yacoub, the chairman of CPA, asserted that the agency did this step, because it cares about the consumers’ rights and achieving a comprehensive economic social development; the paramount is operating consumer protection law No. 67/2006 for achieving maximum consumer protection.

Yacoub emphasized the necessity of completing the Article of consumers’ protection in the new constitution, like several countries which responded to the guidelines of the United Nations, which issued in its decision 39/238 in 1985, and include the precious principles of consumer rights.

He said the new constitution should include Articles protect the consumers’ right and  prevent issuing any future laws against the consumer rights, as they are basic part of new Egypt system after Jan 25 revolution.
