Damietta Port maintains around-the-clock operations after fire, Egyptian Cabinet says

Egypt’s Damietta Port is operating at full capacity, with vessel traffic and cargo handling continuing normally following yesterday’s fire aboard two vessels, the Cabinet’s Media Centre said on Thursday.

The media centre said the Mediterranean port continues to provide maritime and logistics services around the clock without disruption to shipping lines or port users.

All terminals and berths remain operational, with vessels arriving and departing as scheduled, while loading, unloading, and cargo handling for containers, dry bulk, liquid bulk, and general cargo continue normally, it said.

The statement followed an earlier Cabinet announcement that preliminary investigations found a drone caused the fire aboard two vessels at Damietta Port on 29 July. Authorities are continuing their investigation, and no group has claimed responsibility.
