Disney’s diversity chief resigns

Disney’s chief diversity officer and senior vice president, Latondra Newton, is resigning from her position after six year, Reuters reported on Tuesday.

An internal note from Disney’s chief human resources officer, Sonia Coleman says that Newton’s direct reports will be led by Julie Merges, the senior vice president of talent acquisition.

“Since 2017, Newton has led Disney’s diversity and inclusion initiatives, coordinating with various teams to produce entertainment that reflects a global audience and sustains a welcoming and inclusive workplace for everyone,” Newton’s profile on the company’s website states.

Newton is considering joining the corporate board of another company, and focusing on the creative company she owns.
