Dubai Ports Authority plans upgrading Egyptian ports’ infrastructure

Dubai Ports Authority (DPA) is set to send a technical mission to Cairo to discuss developing the infrastructure of Egyptian ports, Industry Minister said Sunday.

Tarek Qabil stated that this step comes as pursuant to the Egyptian government’s approach to mechanise and link Egyptian customs electronically.

The minister made these remarks during his meeting with Sultan Bin Sulayem,  Chairman of DPA, that was held during Qabil’s visit to UAE.

Both sides showcased cooperation and investment opportunities between Egypt and UAE within the upcoming period as well as means of making use of the Emirati expertise to upgrade Egyptian ports and customs.

Qabil pointed out that the ministry would execute Egy Trade project that targets facilitating Egyptian trade system in cooperation with ministries of finance and transport. The project aims at lowering the cost and time necessary for importing and exporting processes.

The meeting discussed plans of DPA to enlarge its investments in Egypt within the coming period through executing a number of projects in fields of ports besides establishing free zones.
