Jumia says e-commerce rises 80% in Egypt amid coronavirus outbreak

E-commerce sales in Egypt have gone up 80 percent within three months amid the coronavirus pandemic outbreak, says Jumia CEO Hisham Safwat.

He added that the awareness has been on the rise indicating that an unprecedented number of users began to know how to order, track shipments, and deal with digital channels in purchasing online during the pandemic.

Egyptians have found online shopping to be the best solution for getting her groceries, as fears over a growing coronavirus outbreak have led to panic-buying and stockpiling of some goods, as well as crowding at some shops.
