Egypt appoints a new head for National Security Agency

Egypt’s ministry of Interior named on late Saturday a new head for the National Security Agency, Al Ahram Arabic news website reported.

Major general Moahmed Sharway will be replacing Major general Salah Hegazy in the post.

During Hosni Mubarak’s era, the State Security Apparatus  was widely regarded as the main security arm protecting Mubarak’s regime.

In 2011, the State Security Apparatus was dismantled and a new National Security Agency took its place.
