Egypt’s Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Ahmed Rostom, discussed strengthening economic cooperation and exchanging sustainable development expertise with Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Cairo, Elkhan Polukhov, on Sunday.
Rostom highlighted Egypt’s experience in structural reform, macroeconomic stability, and private sector support, as well as its use of digital tools to track progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals. He said previous sessions of the joint committee between the two countries had opened new avenues for cooperation and could help further expand economic ties.
Polukhov reaffirmed Azerbaijan’s commitment to deepening relations with Egypt, highlighting direct flights between Baku and Cairo launched earlier this year to support trade and investment. He also pointed to upcoming meetings of the Islamic Development Bank Group and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation summit in Baku, while expressing interest in benefiting from Egypt’s expertise in smart cities and green infrastructure.
