Egyptian Bourse gains $217mn after Eid Holiday

Egypt’s stocks went higher at the first day after the vacation of Eid El Fitr obtaining gains worth 1.7 billion Egyptian pounds (US$217.1 million)

The market capitalisation hit 486.708 billion pounds during the closing session of Tuesday.

Indices

Egypt’s benchmark index, EGX30 hiked by 0.33 percent to 8049.69 points.

EGX20 boosted by 0.02 percent to 8088.23 points.

In addition, the mid- and small-cap index EGX70 increased by 1.13 percent to 437.15 points. The price index, EGX100 edged higher by 0.67 percent to 908.24 points.

Turnovers

On Tuesday, the bourse’s trading volume has reached 165.363 million securities, with turnovers closed at EGP 696.865 million, exchanged through 21,278 thousand transactions.

Also during the closing session, 157 listed securities have been traded in; 49 declined, 67 advanced; while 38 kept their previous levels.

Investors’ Activities

Egyptian and non-Arab investors were net buyers on Tuesday seizing 71.44 % and 19.04% respectively of the total markets, with a net equity of EGP 17.679 million and EGP 86.864 million, respectively, excluding the deals.

On the contrary, the Arab investors were net sellers getting 9.52% of the total market, with a net equity of EGP 104.544 million, excluding the deals.
