Egypt cabinet affirms no power cuts after mid-September

The Egyptian Cabinet spokesperson Nader Saad announced Saturday that there will be no power outages after mid-September, adding that the government would announce a daily schedule of power cuts in cities and villages next Monday.

He confirmed that the New Administrative Capital (NAC) is included in the process of electricity rationalising, and buildings there will be closed after the official working hours, with air conditioners or unnecessary lights turned on.

“For the first time, electricity loads have reached the maximum consumption level recorded in previous years, reaching 34,650 megawatts (MW), while work is underway to stabilise the power supply,” Ministry of Electricity said in a statement.

It is worth mentioning that on 27 July 2023, Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly has announced a series of important decisions to address the electricity crisis, which began a few days ago due to increased loads caused by rising temperatures.
