Egypt condemns Israeli Settlers’ Arson Attack in West Bank

Egypt officially condemned the arson attack by Israeli settlers on a house in the occupied West Bank earlier Friday where a Palestinian toddler was killed and three of his family members seriously injured.

In a short statement issued Friday afternoon, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ spokesperson Badr Abdel-Atti sent Egypt’s condolences to the family of the baby who was killed in the fire.

“We demand that Israeli authorities bear their legal and humanitarian responsibility as an occupation authority and to provide security and safety to the Palestinian people,” Abdel Atti said in the statement, adding that the international community was also responsible for providing safety to the Palestinian people.

The 18-month year old Palestinian toddler was burned to death and three other Palestinians severely injured on Friday morning when their house in the occupied West Bank was set on fire by Israeli settlers.

The Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO) said it held Netanyahu’s government “fully responsible” for the death of the toddler, adding that it was a direct consequence of decades of impunity for settler terrorism, AFP reported.

Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli prime minister, called the attack “an act of terrorism in every respect” and ordered security forces to hunt down the attackers.
