Egypt constructs EGP 190bn water, sanitation projects since 2014
Egypt is currently establishing 571 water and sanitation projects at a total cost of 63.3 billion Egyptian pounds, according to the Egyptian Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, Assem El-Gazzar.
The drinking water projects have a combined capacity of 22.9 million cubic metres per day, while the sanitation projects have the capacity to handle 3.1 million cubic metres of water per day, El-Gazzar said in a statement on Sunday.
Since President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi took office in 2014, the country witnessed the construction of 1,714 water and sanitation projects in urban and rural areas at a cost of 190 billion billion pounds,
So far, a total of 1,143 water and sanitation projects have been established with respective daily capacities of 11 million cubic metres and 6.9 million cubic metres at a cost of 128.1 billion pounds
Water projects serve more than 60 million people, while sanitation projects serve over 45 million people.
