Egypt contact tracing over 900,000 people directly, indirectly contacted coronavirus sufferers

Egypt is contact tracing more than 900,000 people who were in direct and indirect contact with coronavirus sufferers, said Ahmed El Sobky, the assistant minister at the Ministry of Health, on Monday.

The contact tracing is part of measures taken by the Ministry of Health to minimise the potential for people infected with the novel coronavirus to spread it, El Sobky added.

Speaking at a parliamentary meeting, El Sobky said the ministry plans to set up the National Centre for Crisis and Health Disaster Management, following the recent surge in the number of new coronavirus infections.

To date, Egypt has 6,813 coronavirus infections, an increase of 348 cases from the day before.
