Egypt denies imposing $1000 fee on tourists

Egypt denies rumors of issuing a new $1000 fee on tourists visiting the country, the the Egyptian Cabinet said in a statement on Monday.

No new added fees would be imposed on tourists, other than the current visa fees for a number of countries, the statement read, after rumors spread on some online platforms.

The Cabinet clarified that the measures are concerning the legalization and reconciliation of status of foreigners residing in the country illegally.
