Egypt disburses EGP2.538b in worker assistance across 3,999 establishments

Egypt’s Emergency Workers’ Relief Fund disbursed 2.538 billion Egyptian pounds in assistance to workers across 3,999 establishments since the start of its operations in 2002 until April 2026, the Ministry of Labour announced on Tuesday.

Labour Minister Hassan Raddad stated that 57.5 million pounds were disbursed between 1 January 2026 and 30 April 2026, benefiting 12,365 workers across five establishments.

He added that the fund continues to support workers and protect employees in establishments facing challenges, in line with directives to provide a social protection umbrella during crises.

The minister said the support aims to enable rapid intervention for workers in establishments facing economic or operational difficulties, allowing them to overcome crises and resume production, thereby supporting labour market stability.
