Egypt, DP World discuss expanding manufacturing investments in SCZONE

Egypt discussed plans with DP World to expand the company’s manufacturing investments in the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE), alongside its existing logistics projects, during a meeting on Wednesday between Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly and DP World Group Chairman Essa Kazim.

Kazim said DP World aims to increase its manufacturing investments in Egypt to create added value and generate jobs, citing the country’s manufacturing and logistics potential and its strategic location.

“We are committed to maintaining and expanding our investments in Egypt and strengthening practical cooperation,” Kazim said, according to a Cabinet statement.

SCZONE Chairman Waleid Gamal El-Dien said the discussions focused on opportunities to expand the group’s manufacturing investments in the economic zone while strengthening cooperation in manufacturing and logistics.

Madbouly said partnerships with private-sector companies, particularly global firms, are central to the government’s strategy to develop logistics services in SCZONE and expand manufacturing.

He said broader cooperation with international companies would enhance the competitiveness of Egyptian ports and strengthen the country’s position as a regional trade and logistics hub.
