Egypt exports 180,000 tons of food in one week – NFSA

Egypt exported around 180,000 tons of food products during the week of 13-19 June, with Saudi Arabia remaining the largest importer, the National Food Safety Authority (NFSA) said on Sunday.

The country shipped about 4,150 export consignments through 1,370 exporting companies, covering around 730 food products, including fruits, vegetables, grain products, and processed foods, according to the NFSA’s weekly report.

Fruit exports totalled around 60,000 tons across 38 varieties, led by citrus at 21,000 tons, followed by grapes at around 20,000 tons and strawberries at 14,000 tons.

Vegetable exports reached around 40,000 tons across 40 varieties, with onions accounting for 12,000 tons, followed by potatoes at 7,000 tons and sweet potatoes at 5,000 tons.

Arab countries remained the largest destination for Egyptian food exports during the week, with Saudi Arabia leading as the top importer, followed by Libya, the United Arab Emirates, the Netherlands, and Somalia, among a total of 183 importing countries.
