The Egyptian pound was broadly unchanged against the U.S. dollar in midday trading on Sunday, extending a period of relative stability in the local foreign-exchange market amid steady hard-currency liquidity.
The dollar traded at around 49.83 pounds for buying and 49.93 pounds for selling at most major banks as of 12:26 p.m. local time (09:26 GMT), according to data compiled from five leading lenders.
| Bank | Buy (EGP/USD) | Sell (EGP/USD) |
| National Bank of Egypt (NBE) | 49.83 | 49.93 |
| Banque Misr | 49.84 | 49.94 |
| Commercial International Bank (CIB) | 49.83 | 49.93 |
| QNB Alahli | 49.8300 | 49.9300 |
| Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB) | 49.9600 | 50.0600 |
The Egyptian currency has traded within a relatively narrow range against the greenback in recent weeks, supported by improved foreign-currency inflows and easing pressures in the domestic foreign-exchange market.
