Egypt formulates strategy to support exports: Minister

Minister of Trade and Industry Amr Nassar said  that there is coordination between the ministry and members of the ministerial economic group in order to draw up a strong and effective strategy to boost the export system in Egypt.

The system focuses on introducing a comprehensive vision for the country’s key export sectors and seeks to find solutions to all challenges facing Egyptian exports in various international markets, he said.

It will also see the merging of approaches of the government and the private sector, to improve the services provided to exporters and businessmen, he added.

Nassar made the remarks as he chaired a meeting of the board of directors of the Export Development Authority (EDA), which touched on a future strategy to boost exports in addition to the EDA work plan until the end of the 2018/2019 fiscal year.

The minister said that the coming stage will see a comprehensive review of all export-related measures with the aim of eliminating bureaucracy in a way that positively affects export sectors.

The EDA’s efforts have contributed to increasing Egypt’s exports to $25 billion in 2018, he said, noting that the list of Egyptian exports was topped by chemicals, fertilisers, food industries and ready-made garments.
