Egypt, Germany’s Siemens sign power grid deal

The Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) signed Wednesday a contract with Siemens Technology and Services Private.

Under the signed deal, the German technology giant will be responsible for studying the national power grid master plan until 2025.

The two companies have agreed on aspects of cooperation, including installing and updating new modules and programs such as the Power System Simulator for Engineering (PSSE), a software tool used for preparing studies on power control and protection devices, EETC’s Chairman Sabah Mashaly said.

Siemens will also provide a 6-year technical support for utilized programs, training programs for the engineers of EETC’s Networks Studies Sector as well as consulting services, Mashaly added in a statement released Wednesday by the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy.
