Egypt is seeking a trade exchange with Morocco worth around $800 million at the end of the current year, said Nasser Ibrahim, commercial attaché at the Egyptian embassy in Rabat, on Saturday.
The Egyptian diplomat made these remarks on the sidelines of the 7th International Exhibition for Plastic – Plast Expo which takes place in Morocco between April 5 and 8.
Trade exchange between Egypt and Morocco stood at $700 million during 2016. Egypt’s exports to Morocco registered $425 million approximately, Ibrahim stated, saying he expects this number to grow exponentially within this year triggered by the Egyptian government’s plans to double the country’s exports to Africa.
Morocco’s exports to Egypt recorded $275 million during 2016.
Egypt is keen to establish a strategic partnership in order to achieve industrial integration with member countries of Agadir Agreement, including Morocco, Ibrahim added.
