Egypt Inflation Accelerates To 4.7 Percent In December

Inflation in Egypt’s urban areas, the gauge the central bank monitors, accelerated to 4.7 percent in December, the government’s statistical agency said.

The inflation rate rose from 4.3 percent the month before, CAPMAS said on its website today. Food prices rose 5.8 percent in the year, it said. In the month, overall prices rose 0.2 percent.

Bloomberg calculations of figures posted on a CAPMAS spreadsheet earlier today showed annual inflation accelerated to 5.6 percent.
