Egypt is not using Imported Sugar for Subsidy Programme: Minister

Egypt is not using any imported sugar for its subsidy programme, Supply Minister Khaled Hanafi said in a statement on Thursday.

The ministry purchased all the requirements for subsidised sugar from the state-owned Sugar and Integrated Industries Company (SIIC), Hanafi said.

SIIC is also in talks with Kenya for the export of brown sugar, he said.
