Egypt launches new initiative to attract expat investment in agriculture

Egypt unveiled on Tuesday a new initiative to encourage its citizens living abroad to invest in the nation’s ambitious 1.5 million feddan agricultural reclamation project.

Launched by the state-run Egyptian Countryside Development Company (ECDC), in partnership with the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Emigration, the Your Farm in Egypt Initiative aims to boost agricultural investment and strengthen Egypt’s food security.

The programme offers expatriate Egyptians opportunities to participate in large-scale agricultural development, directly contributing to the country’s economic growth. To streamline this process, ECDC and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU), establishing a framework for facilitating overseas Egyptians’ involvement in agricultural and development investments.

Building on this momentum, ECDC also announced plans to introduce additional investment initiatives tailored for expatriate Egyptians in the agricultural sector. These programs, developed in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other government bodies, will be revealed in the near future.

This initiative underscores Egypt’s commitment to leveraging its global diaspora to drive economic growth and achieve long-term sustainability in the agricultural sector.
