Egypt Main Index Solely Rebounds, Crosses 5280 Pts at Midday

Egypt’s stock market went slightly higher during the midday session of Sunday posting gains of EGP 67 million. The benchmark solely rose to near the level of 5285 pts.

The Egyptian Exchange’s indices were wavering on red notes on Sunday noon; except for the main index which went solely higher.

Benchmark EGX30 edged up by 0.09% to 5281.31 p; while EGX20 fell by 0.06% to 6123.14 p.

On the other hand, the mid- and small-cap index, the EGX70 sagged by 0.39% to 427.78 p.  Price index EGX100 inched down by 0.13% to 733.44 p.

The capital market has reached EGP 354.127 billion during the midday session of Sunday, according to data compiled by Amwal Al Ghad English at 12:09 p.m. Cairo time (10:09 GMT).

Trading Volumes & Values

The trading volume has recorded 29.705 million securities worth EGP 87.751 million, exchanged through 5.450 thousand transactions during Sunday midday.

Also during the midday session, 121 listed securities have been traded in; 64 declined, 23 advanced; while 34 steadied.

Foreign Selling Pressures Cited

The non-Arab foreign and Arab investors remained net sellers seizing during midday 6.89% and 7.68% respectively, of the total markets, with a net equity of EGP 3.087 million and EGP 6.507 million, excluding the deals.

Meanwhile,  Local investors were net buyers seizing 85.42% of the total markets, with a net equity of EGP 3.420 million excluding the deals.
