Egypt plans to tap into more African markets – Builders of Egypt 2023

Waleed Jamaluddin, Chairman of the Export Council for Building Materials, confirmed on Sunday that plans are currently under way to penetrate African markets, pointing out that this planning has been in place for five years.

Jamaluddin made his remarks during the fourth session of the Builders of Egypt Forum 2023, saying that Egyptian cement specifically held a great and good place within African and global markets.

Africa had promising markets in many countries, especially in light of the strong competition of China and Turkey’s markets, which were trying to break into that promising market, Jamaluddin added.

Jamaluddin continued that Egypt possesses great capabilities and potential in the construction materials and metallurgical industries sectors, as well as high quality products.

He also added that there is constant cooperation between producers, industrial chambers, and export councils with the General Authority for Standards and Quality to keep up with all Egyptian and international standards, which contributes to the sector’s exports to more than 100 countries.

It is worth mentioning that the cement sector operates at 50 to 55 percent of its production capacity, the ceramic sector operates at about 50 percent, and the insulation sector at 70 to 80 percent, as Jamaluddin explained.
