Egypt: Poland Raises Travel Alert to ‘Third Level’

On growing security concerns, Poland has placed on Wednesday the Arab Republic of Egypt in the third level or to “yellow” of its four-level Outbound Travel Alert system, the Head of the Poland’s Foreign Ministry Press Service said.

Poland’s Foreign Ministry Press Service Head Michal Safianik said though there are no signals that the situation in the Red Sea resorts is dangerous, the Ministry is advising Polish citizens against traveling to Egypt.

“Having in mind the safety of Polish citizens abroad we have increased the travel alert to ‘do not travel’,” Safianik added

The third level, ‘yellow’ indicates “signs of threat”.

Notwithstanding the raised travel alert, the Polish tourists are continuing to book trips to Egypt.

Many Polish agencies reported that their customers bought tickets weeks ago, and flights continued over the weekend, in spite of the death-toll rising amid protests and counter protests for and against the military government in Egypt.

Currently, the foreign ministry estimates that there are 12,000 Polish tourists in Egypt.

Meanwhile, Ambassador of Egypt to Warsaw Reda Bebars said the poles citizens’ insistence on traveling to Egypt despite travel alerts, reflects their love and confidence in the Egypt’s ability to face the current challenges.
