Egypt Presidency Increases Police Risk Compensation

President Adly Mansour decided Wednesday to increase policemen’s risk compensation. The compensation will be set at 30 percent of the basic salary.

The decision is applicable starting 1 March.

Police have increasingly become a target of militant attacks since the ouster of Islamist president Mohamed Morsi in July 2013.

Tens of low-ranking policemen have held intermittent strikes demanding better wages, compensation for risks they are subjected to, and better working conditions.
