Egypt pumps EGP950bln into transportation sector: PM

Egypt is pumping total investments of 950 billion pounds into  the transportation sector including finished and under-construction projects according to  the Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly .

Egypt achieved high rates in implementing transportation and road ventures at high efficiency and low cost, he added.

He added during the inauguration of the fourth phase of third line of Cairo’s Metro that the state has cmpleted projects at at total cost of  424 billion Egyptian pounds,  the roads and bridges has been  allocated 50 percent of  the total cost.

The Cairo Metro has been allocated 33 billion pounds of the total costs, while the railways has been assigned 40 billion pounds.

He referred to President Sisi ‘s directives to press ahead with a National Strategic Plan for Urban Development-Vision 2052

El-Sisi will lay the foundation stone of the connecting station of Adly Mansour, one of the major central stations that will connect the New Administrative Capital with all the country’s cities and governorates.

Around 3.5 million Cairo dwellers use the metro every day. Launched in 1987, the metro has since become the most important means of transportation in Cairo. Female commuters can either choose to take the non-segregated cars or use the women-only carriages.

Within the 2030 Vision, it is planned that Greater Cairo houses six metro lines.
