Egypt reinforces external debt oversight mechanisms
Egypt’s Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Rania Al-Mashat, highlighted the role of the External Debt Management and Borrowing Regulation Committee in overseeing the external debt portfolio and establishing an annual borrowing cap aligned with financial sustainability standards.
Her remarks came during the inaugural meeting of the committee, chaired by Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly.
Al-Mashat further emphasised that the government is working to reduce debt levels as a percentage of GDP while simultaneously driving new investments to support economic growth.
