Egypt: Renaissance Dam’s Controversial Points Approved

Egyptian Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Mohamed Abdel-Mottaleb said that meetings of the Irrigation Ministers of Egypt, Sudan and Ethiopia have witnessed a breakthrough in negotiations.

The Minister asserted that three controversial points have been approved.

Abdel-Mottaleb added that they agreed to convene their third meeting on January 4, in Khartoum in order to resolve the remaining suspended points regarding the implementation of the recommendations of the international panel entrusted with studying the Renaissance Dam’s effects on Egypt and Sudan.

At the end of meetings, Abdel-Mottaleb pointed that the Ethiopian stance was positive and surprising.
