Egypt reviews gas supply plans for summer

Egypt’s Petroleum and Mineral Resources Minister Karim Badawi reviewed on Monday the operational status of the national natural gas network and the regularity of supplies to various domestic consumption sectors. This came during a visit to the network control centre at the Egyptian Natural Gas Company (GASCO).

Badawi reviewed natural gas supplies to power generation plants to support stable electricity supplies amid high temperatures, as well as supplies to the industrial sector to ensure factories continue operating at full capacity while meeting domestic market needs and export commitments.

The minister said work would continue under integrated, proactive plans to secure natural gas supplies and respond efficiently and flexibly to changes in consumption rates, while maintaining readiness to address any developments or emergencies.

He added that measures taken by the state, including providing regasification vessels and natural gas shipments, boosting domestic production and developing proactive supply plans, helped meet domestic market needs during the first half of summer.

Badawi stressed continued coordination between the petroleum and electricity sectors and relevant authorities to ensure sustainable and secure energy supplies in the coming period, while maintaining real-time monitoring of the network, consumption rates and supplies.
