Egypt sees 106 new coronavirus cases, 12 deaths on Friday

Egypt reported 106 new coronavirus cases on Friday, bringing the total infection tally to 104,262 since the outbreak began in February, a statement by the health ministry said.

The health ministry also reported 12 new fatalities, bringing the total number of deaths from the virus to 6,029.

The statement said that 68 patients have been discharged after recovering from the virus, bringing the total number of recoveries to 97,592.

Though the number of the daily new coronavirus cases has been relatively few since August, the government repeatedly urged caution to avoid a potential second wave of the pandemic, particularly with the advent of autumn and the beginning of the new academic year.
