Egypt sends Nepal humanitarian aid

Cairo has sent Kathmandu 18 tons of humanitarian aid to counter the effects of the devastating earthquake that hit Nepal at the end of April, said the Egyptian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Badr Abdel Atty in a statement Monday.

On April 25, Nepal was hit by 7.8-magnitude quake that has killed more than 8,000 and injured more than 18,000. Since then, the country has received humanitarian aid from many countries.

The 18 tons of Egyptian was shipped in cooperation with India, the statement added.

Nepal was hit again by a strong earthquake Tuesday morning; the 7.4-magnitude quake was close to Mount Everest, Reuters reported.
